Happy New Year and welcome to 2020! I hope Christmas was a great celebration for you and that you have also had the opportunity for a slower time over the last ten days or so.

Sadly, for many people in Australia the past few weeks have been anything but restful as bushfires cause enormous loss and damage. I know you are praying for those whose homes and businesses have been damaged or destroyed, for families who have suffered the loss of loved ones and also for the emergency services workers who continue to work so hard.

Last weekend, Kangaroo Island was significantly impacted and that continues with fires still burning. I know many of you have already been in contact with Brad Henley and know that he and Joh and their family along with their home, are safe and well.

It has not been so for many residents of the island who are facing a difficult future. Brad has been active in ministering in the evacuation centre and both he and Joh are offering emotional and spiritual support to those in need. I have asked Brad to let me know if there are ways we can support him and he has agreed to do that but says at the moment one of the greatest supports will be prayer.

Would you please keep Brad and Joh in your prayers as well as those who have and are suffering because of the fires.

The recovery on KI will be slow and support will be needed long after the fires are extinguished.

With thanks for your partnership in the mission of God.

In Christ
