The Synod of the 43rd Triennium will be convened on 3-4 December 2016 for the purpose of electing the 10th Archbishop of Adelaide.

This session will be an Election Synod as per Section 6 of the Election of a Bishop Ordinance.

Candidate Information

Under the Election of a Bishop Ordinance 2002 Section 5(5), the Bishop Nomination Committee is required to provide information about the candidates to members of Synod "not more than two weeks and not less than one week" prior to the Election Synod. It is the Committee’s intention to provide the maximum amount of time to enable Synod members to review the candidate information and a Report from the Bishop Nomination Committee. Members of Synod will likely receive this report on or around 21 November 2016, and will be posted to the postal address you provided.

Confidentiality

No member or officer of the Synod shall at any time disclose any information concerning the proceedings of an Election Synod or the names of the candidates or the details of any ballot.
— S.6(3) of the Election of a Bishop Ordinance

Due to the confidential nature of the reports the reports will not be provided digitally. During the Business Session, only members and officers of the Synod may be present except by special leave of the Synod. As such the public gallery will be closed and only summoned members of Synod will be provided with a lanyard to sit on the floor and participate in the Election Synod.
